The Serpent Society may have been founded in Captain America: Brave New World by one of the first antagonists in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. CanWeGetSomeToast on X claims that the “secret benefactor” funding the reptilian-themed baddies is Tim Blake Nelson’s The Leader, an enemy who was introduced in The Incredible Hulk. Although behind-the-scenes images have verified that the Serpent Society will appear in Brave New World, their function in the story has not yet been established at the time of writing. More information about the characters and their relationship is still to come. Since its debut in 1985’s Captain America by writers Mark Gruenwald and Paul Neary, The Serpent Society has been one of Captain America’s most evil adversaries, tormenting Steve Rogers and his successors. Over the years, the group’s membership has fluctuated, although the initial lineup includes villains like Anaconda, Cobra, and Rattler, with new members constantly entering the fray. Regarding The Leader, a brief moment in the MCU when Nelson’s Samuel Sterns gets exposed to some of Bruce Banner’s radioactive blood and has his skull mutated hinted at the super-intelligent villain.

While many fans may be anticipating the live-action Serpent Society, many have questioned if the villains would fit into the MCU. The upcoming Captain America film, according to production designer Ramsey Avery, will include a relatable plot that totally supports Sam Wilson’s new name. The goal of this, according to Avery, is to be “very grounded, to make sure it has that sense of actually happening in the world.” “Therefore, it’s distinct in many respects from previous works, especially some of the more recent ones. And it’s a really thoughtful decision that is both engaging and thrilling. And there are several questions of all types attached to it. As the star of his own MCU film after years of portraying The Falcon and then serving as the series’ star of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, whereby he assumes the role of Captain America, Brave New World also represents a huge departure for Mackie. There is a tone of pressure, according to Mackie. “You toss my stupid ass into the water and say, ‘Swim.’ I’m thinking, “Shit.” However, it’s also all a matter of attitude. I have a fantastic cast. I’ve been given a fantastic team that I’ve previously worked with.
