As part of its Create 100 programme, Disney announced a global auction of several historic Marvel memorabilia. Many of Marvel’s creative brains participated in the auction, including Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, Lisa Williams, a number of comic book authors, including Chris Allen and Nic Klein, and others. A replica of Stormbreaker from Avengers: Infinity War and a handcrafted, one-of-a-kind doll inspired by Black Panther are among the MCU-related items up for auction. There are also a number of comic book-related items, such as art prints and custom sketches featuring Miles Morales, Thor, Moon Knight, and Iron Man. In order to celebrate Disney’s 100th anniversary and raise money for the Make-A-Wish organisation, which works to grant life-changing wishes to children with life-threatening diseases, Disney and the organisation collaborated to create the Create 100 project. Disney claims that $1 million has already been given and that all proceeds from the auction would go to a nonprofit that grants wishes to children all around the world.
The auction will run for 18 days across 18 different nations starting on October 12. Statements from the authors of each item are included with it. The contributors will share their memories of working with Marvel over the years in a variety of media. The auction is just one of several projects Disney and Make-A-Wish have worked on together. The corporation has offered free trips to Disney Parks, shopping sprees, exclusive celebrity meet-and-greets, theme park visits, and other opulent vacations over the years. The auction, which coincides with Disney’s 100th birthday this year, is a part of the larger Disney 100 initiative designed to recognise the company’s long history of influence on the film and animation industries. Disney was founded in 1923 and has since grown into a cultural behemoth with a number of IPs under its belt, including Star Wars and Marvel. A number of behind-the-scenes specials for some of Disney’s most popular franchises, as well as featurettes and documentaries outlining the studio’s current emphasis on diversity and public appeal, have all been released as a result of the Disney 100 effort. On the official Disney Create 100 website, fans may register in order to obtain access to the catalogue and other upcoming events where they can bid on some of these goods.
