The Earth’s Mightiest Heroes will allegedly play prominent roles in both Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars. Kang Dynasty will centre around the brand-new, as of yet unannounced Avengers squad from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, according to reliable scooper MyTimeToShineHello. According to reports, this squad will “fight the Council of Kangs and lose,” which will then be followed by Secret Wars and “a team of Multiversal Avengers” that the Time Variance Authority (TVA) covertly hired. The Multiversal Avengers are assigned by the TVA to “save the 616 Avengers and defeat the Kangs once and for all.” It is rumoured that Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man, Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, and Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool will be in the roster. Fans should take these rumours with a grain of salt for the time being as Marvel Studios has not yet verified these storyline specifics.
After The Infinity Saga, which made up Phases 1 through 3 of the MCU, came to an end, Marvel Studios confirmed that the remaining three phases would be known as The Multiverse Saga and that Kang the Conqueror would serve as the new Thanos-calibre villain. With its end-credits scene mentioning an impending “incursion,” a term taken from the 2015 Secret Wars comic book storyline that is used to describe two worlds that are about to collide, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022) has seemingly started to set up the following two-part Avengers storyline. With Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire playing their respective Spider-Mans in Spider-Man: No Way Home in 2021, Marvel Studios has begun recasting past Marvel actors who did not participate in the MCU for significant parts in its projects before Secret Wars. Then, in Multiverse of Madness, Patrick Stewart’s Professor X made an appearance, and Deadpool 3 is said to include many X-Men cameos as well as Jennifer Garner’s Elektra. Secret Wars would serve as a “send-off to not only the current MCU, but to all the Marvel movies that came before Iron Man,” according to another unsubstantiated rumour, which supports the claim that the film will star venerable Marvel performers like Maguire and Jackman.
