With Ski Chalet variations, Marvel is bringing some wintertime fun to the Amazing Spider-Man and Spider-Woman covers. Jessica Drew (Spider-Woman) and Mary Jane Watson are seen on the covers getting ready to hit the slopes for some skiing and snowboarding. The full seven part set of covers will be available for purchase throughout December, including virgin copies of the Ski Chalet variant covers. Additionally, Thunderbolts, X-Men, Captain America, Doctor Strange, and Spider-Boy issues will have Ski Chalet covers. J. Scott Campbell created the Amazing Spider-Man cover, which will be available starting on December 20. The alternate cover for Spider-Woman, which was illustrated by David Nakayama, will be released on December 27.
Amazing Spider-Man and Spider-Woman are both a part of the ongoing Spider-Man “Gang War” crossover arc in addition to both appearing in the Ski Chalet variant cover series. Spider-Man will lead a team of heroes, including Miles Morales, She-Hulk, Daredevil, and Spider-Woman, in “Gang War,” which was first revealed at San Diego Comic-Con earlier this year. Their goal is to clear the streets of “super gangs” in less than 48 hours. In the first issue of Amazing Spider-Man, Spider-Man gathers a group of superheroes to battle the villains who are encroaching on New York City. Later in Spider-Woman, the tale continues as Jessica waged battle against the gangs and engaged in a rematch with the antagonist Green Mamba.
The event starts in November with a prologue titled “Gang War: First Strike” that spans over from Miles Morales: Spider-Man to Amazing Spider-Man to Spider-Woman and Luke Cage: Gang War. A unique one-shot titled Amazing Spider-Man – Gang War: First Strike is included in the prequel as well. Shang-Chi from the three-part Deadly Hands of Kung-Fu: Gang War and Matt Murdock from the four-part Daredevil: Gang War are two additional characters who have joined the conflict.
