According to reports, Mahershala Ali’s Blade was on the verge of becoming a supporting role in his own film. According to rumours, the story of the much awaited Blade movie at one stage concentrated mostly on a number of ladies and packed it full of life lessons. According to reports, Ali’s vampire character was relegated to the role of fourth lead in this version of the screenplay. Due to the unexpected narrative choice, notable cast member losses, and several delays, Ali thought about resigning from Blade. The general public has long been aware of Ali’s dissatisfaction with Blade’s development process. Ultimately, the film has had at least two directors and five writers. The Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA strikes also forced the production to stop after the movie was finally scheduled to start shooting in the summer of 2023. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige allegedly persuaded Ali to continue on the project by bringing on Michael Green, who is best known for penning films like Blade Runner 2049 and Logan, considering how in-demand Ali is as a talent in Hollywood.

The claims that Ali is dissatisfied with the Blade script date back to September 2022, when industry insider Jeff Sneider made public that the famous actor thought the movie’s plot was unconvincing. Sneider detailed the ongoing pre-production problems at Blade once again in March 2023, adding that Ali had been asking for “script changes all the time” for several months. The script for Blade is not the only issue that has caused the much anticipated superhero film to be delayed. It was also disclosed in September 2022 that Bassam Tariq, who had been tasked with directing the project, had left Blade. Marvel noted in a statement at the time that Bassam is no longer moving ahead as director of Blade due to ongoing changes in our production schedule, but he will still serve as executive producer on the movie. “It’s been an honour working with the wonderful folks at Marvel,” Tariq said in a statement. We succeeded in assembling an incredible cast and team. eager to watch the film’s direction under the next director.” Blade, which was originally scheduled for release on September 6, 2024, is now anticipated to open in theatres on February 14, 2025 due to the delays. Among the numerous forthcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe films that have been postponed is Blade. The Hollywood strikes of this year have also impacted projects including Deadpool 3, Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts, Fantastic Four, and the next two Avengers films. These strikes have caused Marvel Studios to repeatedly reschedule their production.
