Gwyneth Paltrow made a recent appearance at the Red Sea Film Festival in Saudi Arabia where she revealed that she has never seen Avengers: Endgame and had stopped watching the MCU movies. She stated that she “can’t keep track of who’s what” and that she should probably watch it at some point. This might come as a surprise to some fans as Paltrow played the role of Pepper Potts in several MCU movies, including the Iron Man trilogy and Avengers films.
Despite fans clamoring to see her return to the MCU, Paltrow has indicated that she is “semi-retired” from acting, especially after the fallout surrounding Harvey Weinstein, who was involved with a number of her earliest projects and who she had already accused of inappropriate conduct in 1988. She has also argued that Pepper might not be able to work as a character “without Iron Man.” However, Pepper has had her own social life and story outside of Tony Stark in the pages of Marvel Comics, including marrying Happy Hogan multiple times over, operating as Madame Masque during Dark Reign, and suiting up as Rescue on several occasions.
It’s interesting to note that Paltrow’s comments about not watching MCU movies anymore and not having seen Endgame might reflect a common challenge for fans who try to keep up with the expanding universe. With so many movies and characters, it can be difficult to keep track of everything. Nonetheless, Paltrow’s contributions to the early MCU movies were significant, and her portrayal of Pepper Potts will always be an important part of the franchise’s history.
