Despite being a foundational character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), the Hulk has faced complications when it comes to getting his own standalone movie. The distribution rights for a Hulk solo feature still reside with Universal Pictures, while Marvel Studios has the freedom to use the character in ensemble films. The success of recent cross-studio alliances, such as the Disney and NBCUniversal deal for Hulu, has sparked speculation about the potential future of Bruce Banner and the Hulk.

Mark Ruffalo, who has portrayed Hulk/Bruce Banner in the MCU for over ten years, recently shared his thoughts on the possibility of a standalone Hulk movie. While he has been asked not to comment specifically on the matter, Ruffalo expressed his hope that one day the obstacles will be overcome and a Hulk solo film can be realized. He mentioned that he has been involved in brainstorming ideas and believes it could be a really cool project, although he doesn’t know the exact details yet.

Ruffalo’s portrayal of Hulk has been well-received by fans, and he has become synonymous with the character. Since taking over the role from Edward Norton in 2012, Ruffalo has appeared in various Avengers films, as well as in other Marvel franchises like Thor and Shang-Chi. While the future of a standalone Hulk film remains uncertain, fans can look forward to seeing Ruffalo’s portrayal of the character in other upcoming Marvel projects. In the meantime, Ruffalo can also be seen in the film Poor Things, alongside Emma Stone and Willem Dafoe.
