A strange and funny new fan video parodies a well-known Spider-Man 2 sequence in a Thomas & Friends-style. Spider-Man 2 is regarded as one of the greatest superhero films of all time, despite the fact that Tobey Maguire featured in three of his own Spider-Man films and had a supporting role in Spider-Man: No Way Home. As such, tributes to and remixes of the classic Spidey film may still be seen in fan art, films, and other multimedia projects. The Spider-Man 2 train sequence has been recreated on TikTok by user Hat-Loving Gamer in an odd new take on classic scene recreations. The scene is reminiscent of a children’s Thomas the Tank Engine programme. A funny comedy is created by the remix’s calm narration and bizarre embellishments, while the original sequence features classic comic-book action and a stressful, heroic act by Spider-Man to stop a break-less train.
The original scene’s rhythms remain intact, but subtle changes like the face on the train and a random goat devouring Spider-Man’s mask create a wonderful clash of tones with the scene’s very emotional finale.
The timing of Spider-Man 4 seems appropriate even though Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man 3 concluded the Sam Raimi trilogy sixteen years ago. The adored series continues to be discussed and referenced to an extent that the majority of other superhero flicks from that era don’t, and Maguire’s cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home indicates that fans are eager for more Maguire Spider-Man material. Raimi had intended to make a Spider-Man 4, but the negative reviews for Spider-Man 3 caused the series to cease, and instead Andrew Garfield starred in the Amazing Spider-Man movie. The initial cast of Spider-Man 4 by Raimi included Dylan Baker as Lizard and John Malkovich as Vulture. Even if it’s unlikely that such ideas would materialise, there are still a number of Spider-Man villains from Marvel Comics that haven’t been given their due on film. A paranoid adventure might be led by someone like Chameleon, or Scorpion could play the villain that Homecoming hinted to but didn’t go back to.
Furthermore, if the rumours about Avengers: Secret Wars come to pass, Spider-Man 4 may be the ideal project. While Endgame brought together an unparalleled cast of Marvel characters, Secret Wars could surpass it by assembling legendary figures from the universe of Marvel films that are not part of the MCU. Returning for the team-up endeavour, Maguire could find that a last Spider-Man story to wrap up his storyline piques readers’ attention. In the event that it doesn’t, Spider-Man 2 and the previous Maguire films remain as entertaining to watch as they ever have.
