According to a widely circulated rumour, Marvel’s Fantastic Four film may see further delays. Fantastic Four, an MCU film, was originally scheduled for release on November 8, 2024, but it was eventually pushed back until February 14, 2025. But that wasn’t the end of it; Marvel Studios hasn’t even decided on a cast for Fantastic Four yet, and the much-anticipated film has been postponed once more till May 2, 2025. It has been reported that Fantastic Four would now begin filming in the third quarter rather than the spring as previously anticipated. Pedro Pascal, who is supposedly playing Reed Richards in the MCU film, had to withdraw from Zach Cregger’s Weapons because to his hectic schedule. Pascal’s rumoured casting in filmmaker Ari Aster’s Eddington, or the actor beginning filming on The Last of Us season 2 around the time that Fantastic Four was scheduled to begin production, might be the reason for the potential delay if Pascal is indeed slated to play Marvel’s Reed Richards.
There will probably be some consequences if Marvel’s Fantastic Four has indeed delayed the start of production until the third quarter. Marvel’s First Family’s MCU premiere is expected to change in light of Fantastic Four’s reported postponement of the film’s May 2025 release date. Filming for Fantastic Four is scheduled to begin in July 2024 and last for a few months. This means that the movie will either wrap up in the new year or close to 2025. In addition to putting the film’s release date in jeopardy once more, the potential postponement of Fantastic Four’s production might result in cast member losses for the Marvel picture. The other members of the team are said to have found their actors, but Pascal is the only one who has been officially cast as Reed Richards in Fantastic Four. Over the past several months, there have been various rumours claiming that Joseph Quinn from Stranger Things is portraying Johnny Storm/Human Torch, Vanessa Kirby from The Crown is playing Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach from The Bear is playing Ben Grimm/The Thing.
The Hollywood business is gradually accelerating the release of postponed films and television series in the wake of the 2023 strikes. That’s why a lot of well-known performers have a backlog of unfinished projects that are beginning to clash. The MCU is all too aware of this, since Steven Yeun had to withdraw from Thunderbolts to portray Sentry because of scheduling issues following the Marvel movie’s postponement. A longer wait may force one or more of the rumoured actors to withdraw from Fantastic Four if the cast has been confirmed. There have been no fresh Fantastic Four delays announced by Marvel Studios.
