Fans get a fresh peek at the upcoming X-Men thanks to a new variant cover for Ultimate X-Men. Peach Momoko writes and illustrates Ultimate X-Men. Recently, Mark Brooks revealed a variant cover featuring new mutants Armour (Hisako Ichiki) and Maystorm, poised for combat in the sky. As a part of Jonathan Hickman’s Ultimate Universe, which made its debut last year and established the framework for upcoming Ultimate series, Ultimate X-Men will premiere. Marvel gave fans a sneak peek at the main cover and Armour and Maystorm design sheets for Momoko’s next series when they previously announced it.

Beginning with the events of Hickman’s four-issue series Ultimate Invasion, which takes place on an other Earth known as Earth-6160, Momoko’s tale of a new generation of X-Men takes off. In Ultimate X-Men, a teenage girl named Hisako Ichiki from Japan narrates her quest to return to her regular life following the invasion. At this point, Japanese urban legends are starting to come to pass, and Armour and Maystorm are among the next batch of Ultimate X-Men that are revealed. Maystorm was previously shown as a young, new design for a protégé of the renowned mutant Storm in Momoko’s alternate cover for X-Men. It’s unclear whether Earth-6160 is home to any well-known mutants, as well as whether the squad will be joined by any more new X-Men. Hickman created the framework for the debut of Ultimate Universe, the first series like Ultimate X-Men, after Ultimate Invasion finished. This issue featured a unique two-page prequel tale to Ultimate X-Men that gave fans a first peek at Momoko’s mutants. Now, Momoko’s upcoming series, which delves further into the realm of mutants in the Ultimate Universe and introduces new mutants and their tales on this new, enigmatic Earth, is set to premiere in March.
