Isabela Merced, star of Madame Web, withheld her Marvel casting from DC Studios for fear that it would jeopardise her chance to appear in Superman: Legacy. Madame Web, which opens in theatres on February 14, has a cast that includes Isabela Merced as Anya Corazon, also known as Araña. It’s very much a Marvel film, even if the story takes place in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe rather than the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Merced was worried that she wouldn’t get cast in the DCU when she was up for Hawkgirl in Superman: Legacy since the movie is based on a rival comic book series. In an interview, Merced discussed the circumstances and acknowledged that, when she was in discussions to join Superman: Legacy, she purposefully kept her casting in a Marvel movie a secret because she thought she would not have been able to work on both projects. “Yes, Madame Web was really helpful in getting ready for Hawkgirl,” Merced said. I thought to myself, ‘Is it feasible to do both?'” Why would I be able to accomplish it, even if I know others have? I just chose not to inform them about Madame Web. ‘Oh, do you have any past stunt training?’ they inquired. “Yeah, but I can’t remember where I did it,” I said. Where I was harnessed is a mystery to me.
Isabela Merced portrays one of the primary heroines in Madame Web, accompanied by Cassie Webb, also known as Madame Web, played by Dakota Johnson, Julia Cornwall Spider-Woman, Sydney Sweeney, and Mattie Franklin Spider-Woman, Celeste O’Connor. In addition, Tahar Rahim plays Ezekiel Sims, the antagonist. Under the direction of S. J. Clarkson, the movie narrates the beginnings of Madame Web and follows her as she joins forces with three other strong-willed young ladies to confront a shared foe. James Gunn, the director of Superman: Legacy, is writing the script as well. The first feature film in the DCU continuity, the project is getting ready to go into production in March. Rachel Brosnahan will co-star as Lois Lane, while David Corenswet will head the ensemble as the new Clark Kent. Isabela Merced plays Hawkgirl, one of the supporting roles. Other actors cast are Nathan Fillion as the Green Lantern, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor.
