In a surprising revelation, Marvel has announced the return of Wolverine in a unique and fiery incarnation known as the Spirit of Vengeance in the upcoming Hellverine series set to debut in May. The iconic character, Logan, will embark on a journey through hellfire, grappling with newfound powers. Initially introduced in Ghost Rider/Wolverine: Weapons of Vengeance, the Hellverine series will expand on the narrative set in motion during that crossover, unfolding over the course of four issues.
Renowned writer Benjamin Percy, known for his work on Weapons of Vengeance and Ghost Rider, is the creative force behind Hellverine. Accompanying him are the artistic talents of newcomer Julius Ohta, responsible for the series’ lineart, and Ryan Stegman, who lends his skills to the mini-series’ colors. Percy expressed his excitement about the project, stating, “Readers really responded to the killer concept of Logan with a flaming skull and flaming claws on a flaming motorcycle, which is as heavy metal as it gets. So, we’re giving them more sulfur-scented mayhem in this mini-series that will thrill and terrify.”
The series’ synopsis teases a gripping storyline involving a demonic force named Bagra-ghul, which originally brought Wolverine and Ghost Rider together to combat its threat. Now, in the present day, a mysterious event prompts the return of Hellverine to the streets. The narrative raises questions about whether Wolverine is wielding his hellfire claws for good or evil, introducing a new element with the arrival of the ALL-NEW HELLFIRE WARRIORS. Marvel enthusiasts eagerly anticipate the launch of this all-new series, promising an exhilarating collaboration between Benjamin Percy and the talented Julius Ohta.
