There are reports that a major Sony/Marvel character will appear in Avengers: Secret Wars.

Avengers: Secret Wars is expected to be the greatest Marvel Multiverse crossover event yet, and it has been rumoured that Marvel Studios is amenable to including characters from Sony’s Spider-Man Universe in the film. Insider claims that the character’s final solo film will be Venom: The Last Dance, the previously announced third Venom film. Though Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige is amenable to having Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock/Venom appear in Avengers: Secret Wars, Sony apparently has plans for him to participate in future SSU productions. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe film Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021), Hardy previously made a post-credits scene appearance as Eddie Brock; however, the sequence did not have him interacting with any other superheroes. At the San Diego Comic-Con in 2022, Avengers: Secret Wars was revealed. It is anticipated to be a straight follow-up to the untitled Avengers 5. Marvel Studios has started to hint at the next crossover event, Avengers: Secret Wars, even though the corporation hasn’t yet revealed the cast or plot information. The closing credits scene of the 2022 movie Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness hinted at a potential “incursion,” a phrase taken from the 2015 Secret Wars comic book narrative that refers to the coming collision of two universes. This seems to set up the Secret Wars plot. Multiple worlds were also a theme in 2023’s The Marvels, which concluded with Monica Rambeau imprisoned in an X-Men-inhabited alternative realm.

It’s possible that more than one iteration of the comic book anti-hero makes an appearance in Secret Wars, besides Tom Hardy’s Venom. Joe Manganiello, who played Flash Thompson in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man films, has hinted that he would want to play Agent Venom for Marvel once more. In the comics, Flash is drugged into becoming the superhero Agent Venom after becoming bonded to the Venom symbiote. Although Tony Revolori portrays Flash in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Agent Venom has not yet been made into a feature film. Marvel Studios has not yet revealed the director of either Avengers: Secret Wars or its predecessor, Avengers 5. Nonetheless, considering their prior MCU Multiverse directing expertise, Deadpool & Wolverine’s Shawn Levy and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ Sam Raimi are said to be the current front-runners for helming Secret Wars. Levy slyly addressed the rumour when attending TIFF 2023, stating, “I read that rumour, and that’s all I’m gonna say,” despite the fact that the latter hasn’t replied to the rumours. Recently, Richtman made hints that Marvel is interested in having Levy direct further MCU films after he pleased them with Deadpool and Wolverine.
