Ayelet Zurer returns in Daredevil: Born Again. The Daredevil star’s character was recast for the Disney+ sequel series, and it has now been confirmed that Zurer has returned to the part following a thorough creative reworking of the program. When Daredevil: Born Again was initially announced, it was intended to be a quasi-reboot that would reunite members of the original Daredevil cast but would not necessarily continue the story. Fan favorites such as Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson) and Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll) were left out, and at least one significant recasting occurred, with Sandrine Holt replacing Vanessa Fisk. A fresh shot from the set uploaded by film scooper Daniel Richtman on X shows Zurer reunited with Wilson Fisk actor Vincent D’Onofrio, possibly confirming her return to the role of Vanessa Fisk.
During the development of Daredevil: Born Again, it was claimed that Marvel Studios executives were dissatisfied with the program’s current direction, thus the project was given a creative revamp with new writers on board. As a result, the series was treated as a direct continuation of the original Daredevil show, establishing the series and its spinoffs as MCU canon. That decision allowed fan favorites like Foggy and Karen to return, but it wasn’t clear whether Vanessa was still scheduled to appear or if Holt was still supposed to take over the role. Zurer officially declared in 2023 that she was “sad not to take part” in the rebirth.
“During our restart of all the creative on Daredevil: Born Again, all the creatives got together and said, ‘Look, this is how we’ve got to do it now,'” Vincent D’Onofrio has already revealed why the series would now respect the original Daredevil. “So we’re definitely just talking about it in terms of its direct connection to the original Daredevil, which is fantastic. It incorporates a lot of interesting stories as well as all of the ancillary storylines from the first three seasons.” The cast of Daredevil: Born Again is led by Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio, who return as Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk. According to new set images, Jon Bernthal will reprise his role as Frank Castle, widely known as The Punisher. Other cast members include Margarita Levieva, Michael Gandolfini, Genneya Walton, Nikki M. James, and Clark Johnson.
