For years, Channing Tatum has been attempting to have his Gambit film made. After he was able to play the role in Deadpool & Wolverine, Ryan Reynolds declared he would support him in every way possible, even going back to playing Deadpool. Channing Tatum and Ryan Reynolds have a lot of similarities. Deadpool and Gambit both had to wait a long time to see their heroic personas on the big screen, but Reynolds was more successful in doing so. After pushing for a Deadpool movie for a while, Reynolds just released the third one, which follows the Merc with a Mouth between 2016 to 2018. Reynolds fully supported Tatum on social media after he revealed on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon how long he’s attempted to get things going. Tatum, however, isn’t as fortunate.
Reynolds posted a clip from Channing Tatum’s Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon visit alongside the caption, “It’s impossible not to love and root for Channing Tatum,” on his Instagram Stories. He went on, “I’m so happy for this guy.” He has said before that he would want “more” Tatum’s Gambit. “I’ll repay the favor when he produces a Gambit film. I’m in if he needs someone to help carry sandbags. I can get him a Deadpool if he needs one. No issue, someone bring the group some fresh orange slices. Call it that.” In the interview, Tatum talked about his most recent, highly regarded performance as Gambit in Deadpool & Wolverine, saying, “I could cry.” Since I’ve been deliberately attempting to play that role in the profession for the past 20 years, I could really feel quite emotional.” “Threer grade, throwing playing cards at my friends in the living room,” was how he remembered it.
Originally, Channing Tatum was going to appear in a stand-alone Gambit film, but that was back when Fox still owned the characters. After Disney purchased 20th Century Fox in 2019, the project was postponed and ultimately abandoned. Although there are currently no formal plans for a Gambit movie, the character’s popularity owing to Deadpool and Wolverine might help its prospects. “It was at Fox first and I worked on it for like six years trying to get the standalone to happen,” Tatum said. “And then, as we were ready to start filming, Fox was acquired by Disney, almost to the exact moment of the 1-yard line. Kevin Feige expressed his admiration for Gambit, although he was unsure about how to proceed at the moment. I’m not sure how he fits into our current endeavors.” “Now we sort of cracked a little bit of the code, and hopefully…” the actor said, sounding optimistic. Tatum replied, “I would kill kittens,” when asked whether he would star in the movie. I would commit many horrible acts in order to bring that about.” “I can honestly say that not one single person is just more of a class act and care more than that man,” he said, heaping Reynolds with praise. He removed Gambit from the real grave. He has my eternal gratitude.”
