Marvel Studios’ “Deadpool & Wolverine,” which debuted on digital platforms on October 1st, has set a new record as the best first-day seller of 2024 on Fandango at Home. The R-rated MCU movie, featuring Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool and Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, surpassed the day-one sales of other popular films such as “Inside Out 2,” “Despicable Me 4,” and “It Ends With Us,” as well as summer blockbusters like “Bad Boys: Ride or Die” and “Twisters.” This achievement is a testament to the enduring popularity of both characters and the excitement surrounding their first on-screen team-up.
The movie’s success is not limited to its digital release; it also shattered box office records when it premiered in theaters over the summer. “Deadpool & Wolverine” became the highest-grossing R-rated movie ever, surpassing 2019’s “Joker,” and scored the biggest global opening since “Avatar: The Way of Water” in 2022. With a total of $1.32 billion, it is the second-best box office performance of the year and only the second movie to cross the billion-dollar mark in 2024.
Fans who missed the theatrical experience or wish to relive the excitement can now purchase “Deadpool & Wolverine” for $29.99 or rent it for $24.99 on various digital platforms. Additionally, the “Deadpool 3-Movie Collection” is available for $49.99, bundling the new film with its predecessors from 2016 and 2018. For those who prefer physical media, a Cinematic Universe Edition 4K UHD and collectible limited edition steelbooks will be available on October 22nd, complete with over 40 minutes of extras and a feature-length audio commentary by Reynolds and director Shawn Levy.
While “Deadpool & Wolverine” is not yet available on Disney+, fans can expect it to be streamable around October 26th, following the pattern of previous Phase 5 Marvel movies that migrated to the service three months after their theatrical release.
