The new deleted scene of Loki creates the ideal antagonist for Daredevil: Born Again.

The mention of one new MCU figure may be crucial to Matt Murdock’s ongoing growth in Marvel Television’s upcoming Daredevil: Born Again, while a new deleted clip from Loki season 2 has surfaced. As Loki season 2 came to a close in November 2023, Tom Hiddleston’s erstwhile God of Mischief emerged as the MCU’s most potent figure and the only guardian of the whole multiverse. A recently removed clip from Loki season 2 reveals how many people he has battled over the years, proving that he hasn’t always been a hero. Following the conclusion of the first season, in which Sylvie killed He Who Remains and sent Loki back to the Time Variance Authority, the second season of Loki began. In November 2024, Variety unveiled a new deleted scene that exemplifies the increased potential for bonding between Loki and Owen Wilson’s Mobius. As he names a number of people he has hurt, including one who has long-standing ties to Matt Murdock’s Daredevil, this sequence highlights how terrible Loki had been while also showcasing a beautiful moment between the two.

The Absorbing Man is one of the many names Loki mentions as those he has mistreated throughout the years. At first, he was a strange addition to the list, but it makes sense that he would be given the history of Carl Creel and Loki in Marvel Comics. Carl Creel was given the power to change sections of his body into whatever material he touches when Loki handed him a drink containing a magical elixir back in Journey Into Mystery , published in 1965. He battles Thor with his newly acquired power, which even allows him to absorb Mjolnir’s and Thor’s attributes. Carl Creel’s Absorbing Man, who was once portrayed as a supervillain but has now evolved into an antihero in Marvel Comics, might make an interesting entrance in the MCU. Though he will probably be portrayed as a villain if he appears in the MCU’s Phase 5, he might be utilized to add depth to the next Thunderbolts or Avengers teams. Despite the removal of this sequence from Loki season 2, there is a good chance that this will occur because the Absorbing Man has a long history with the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen in both live-action and Marvel Comics.

The Absorbing Man will already be well-known to many ardent admirers of Marvel’s live-action films, namely those who have seen Agents of SHIELD on Marvel Television. In seasons two, three, and five of Agents of SHIELD, Brian Patrick Wade played Carl Creel, who made his debut in the season two opener, “Shadows.” Carl Creel, a HYDRA agent in Agents of SHIELD, defected to the US and served as Glenn Talbot’s bodyguard. Although his past wasn’t examined, he has the same capacity for absorption as his Marvel Comics counterpart. After making cameos in Spider-Man: No Way Home, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, and Echo, Charlie Cox’s character Matt Murdock, also known as the eponymous Daredevil, will return to the MCU in Daredevil: Born Again, which is set to debut on Disney+ in March 2025. Since Born Again is carrying on the plot of Netflix’s Daredevil series, Carl Creel will formally enter the MCU canon, which means the Absorbing Man may make an appearance in the series. For Daredevil, Carl Creel would be the ideal antagonist, but there is a small problem. There are already too many villains and antiheroes in Daredevil: Born Again, so if the Absorbing Man also chooses to return in the next season, the narrative may become overloaded. The Man Without Fear is anticipated to face up against Kingpin, Bullseye, Muse, the Punisher, and others, leaving little space for Carl Creel’s Absorbing Man. Creel may, however, be presented as a minor opponent, possibly laying the groundwork for a more significant clash in the previously confirmed season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again, which would give him his own moment to shine. In the deleted clip from Loki season 2, Loki also suggested other new characters, such as Hercules and Amora, even though the Absorbing Man’s potential presence in the MCU is extremely intriguing. In the post-credits sequence in Thor: Love and Thunder, Brett Goldstein made his MCU debut as Zeus’ son Hercules, paving the way for a larger part in the as-yet-unannounced Thor 5. Hopefully, Hercules will make a comeback to the MCU soon because Zeus gave his son the responsibility of bringing Thor to his knees, something the deity felt quite at ease with.
