Barry Keoghan, a Golden Globe nominee, who portrayed Druig in Marvel Studios’ Eternals, addressed the conflicting reactions of viewers to Oscar-winning filmmaker Chloé Zhao’s debut Marvel Cinematic Universe instalment.
The actor was questioned about his opinions on the conflicting reactions that Eternals garnered throughout its 2021 theatrical run on Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast. Keoghan said that this response could be brought on by the unfamiliarity of the tale and Zhao’s distinctive narrative style. Keoghan added, “I believe Chloe [Zhao] gave a new type of atmosphere to it. “You realise? Therefore, Chloe provides honest performances and incredibly poignant performances, as you can see from her previous works. I don’t believe it was… It was new, I believe. I believe it was just new. It was novel in the Marvel universe.”
Eternals received negative reviews for its pace and character development despite having a star-studded cast and grand visual effects, according to the critics. It is still unknown if Marvel Studios will create an Eternals sequel. Actor Patton Oswalt, who provided the voice of Pip the Troll, appeared to confirm the project’s existence in August 2022, saying, “There will be an Eternals sequel, it has been stated. It will be under Chloé Zhao’s direction. So perhaps Starfox and Pip will have more adventures.” Oswalt’s assertion has not been been confirmed by Marvel Studios.
Kumail Nanjiani, who plays Kingo’s lead character, discounted Oswalt’s remark and said he has “no information” about the alleged movie. Nanjiani remarked, “I suppose there was a scam website, one of them where it was like one letter off from the actual one. “They tweeted it, it became viral, and I believe Patton saw it. Sincerely, I know nothing.”
While Eternals 2 has not yet been announced, previous MCU productions have had Kingo, played by Nanjiani, in the background. Kingo was introduced as an Eternal and a well-known Bollywood actor. He appeared on a movie poster in The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special and was noted as Kamala Khan’s (Iman Vellani) mother’s favourite actor in Disney+’s Ms. Marvel. Harry Styles, who played Starfox in a post-credit sequence for the movie Eternals, is also anticipated to return in another project. Producer Nate Moore from Marvel Studios remarked, “We didn’t cast Harry for a tag.” There are still more tales to be recounted with that character.
