This month sees the start of Daredevil: Born Again filming, and we couldn’t be happier. Filming on the series is scheduled to start on February 27 and extend until December of this year. This makes it one of the longest series’ production schedules in Marvel Studios’ history, which is well deserved. There will be 18 episodes throughout the entire series, all of them feature vigilante and legal action. David Feige, Thomas Wong, and Zachary Reiter, three new writers for the series who are all actual, accomplished lawyers, have recently joined the team of writers. The team undoubtedly has a wealth of trial experience, from homicide investigations to public defence. The series will heavily include courtroom material, as Charlie Cox himself stated, giving the programme plenty of space to include drawn-out trial sequences.
New Casting
Derek, an Asian-American guy in his late 20s to early 30s, is the first character. He works in a business setting and offers assistance when required. In the first two episodes, he will appear as a co-star and perhaps return. The second character is a guy in his 40s to early 60s named “Barry.” There is no mention of the character’s ethnicity. He is characterised as a bureaucrat who meets with a coworker and has a bookworm-like build. The character’s actor will appear in all future episodes and will have nine lines in the first two.
An Italian-American man in his 50s to early 60s named “Angelo” comes next. The persona is a well-dressed gangster from the old school. He’ll appear frequently as a guest performer. A white man in his 40s with a Russian or Eastern European ancestry is identified as “Alexei” (not Shostakov). He’ll dress in a sweatsuit for a professional meeting (daring enough). Additionally, the actor will return as a frequent guest star.
Finally, we have “Lorenzo,” a 30-year-old male Italian-American. In a more laid-back outfit, he is a brash mafia member. He frequently appears as a guest performer. It is crucial to bear in mind that all of these character names might only be placeholders for their actual names, but there is nothing we can do about it but wait and see.
If “Derek” is his name, he appears to be Matt Murdock’s coworker on Charlie Cox. He appears in Episodes 1 and 2, therefore it’s conceivable that he’ll replace Deborah Ann Woll’s Karen Page in later episodes. Deborah Ann Woll has reportedly agreed to feature in the Twin Flames podcast series, which may make it impossible for her to simultaneously shoot for Marvel Studios, according to a recent report from Daniel Richtman. However, as we lack more evidence on Ann Woll’s schedule difficulties or “Derek’s” screen time, take this with a grain of salt.
The masked vigilante Peter Parker in Spider-Man: No Way Home and the superhero costume designer Luke Jacobson in the 2022 series She-Hulk are the only two customers The Man Without Fear has dealt with so far. The following customer, though, might not be too far away. Barry, who appears in Episodes 1 and 2 but only has 9 words, could be gearing up for a greater part in the series, possibly working in Matt Murdock’s safe haven. This idea is supported by the actor’s inclusion in the recurring cast. Being a bureaucrat, ‘Barry’ could have knowledge of Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk, also known as the Kingpin, but that is just our wild guess.
Due to the fact that “Angelo,” “Alexei,” and “Lorenzo” are Mafia members, Daredevil: Born Again departs from the Netflix series in a fresh path. Although additional information is awaited, this would spark a new power struggle in Hell’s Kitchen and add another foe for the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen to contend with.
