Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’s Kang the Conqueror differs somewhat from the comic book villain upon whom the character is based. In the comics, Kang is a time-traveling despot from the 31st century who has repeatedly clashed with the Avengers. He is a master strategist and a brilliant scientist who possesses advanced technology, which he often uses to conquer other civilizations.
In contrast, the MCU’s version of Kang, portrayed by actor Jonathan Majors, is reportedly more of a multiverse conqueror. While still a master strategist, the MCU’s Kang is said to be more of a philosophical villain who is motivated by a desire to prune the multiverse and prevent alternate realities from threatening his own. Despite these differences, however, the MCU’s Kang still shares many of the comic book version’s traits, including his genius-level intellect, his ambition, and his ability to manipulate time and space to his advantage. Overall, while there are some notable differences between the two versions of the character, the MCU’s Kang appears to be a worthy addition to the pantheon of Marvel villains.
