Tom Hiddleston’s God Mischief travels the cosmos in quest of his female counterpart, Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino), according to the official synopsis for Loki Season 2. According to the Disney synopsis, Loki finds himself in a modified version of the Time Variance Authority (TVA), now reportedly run by a form of Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors), long after the previous season’s cliffhanger finale. According to the description, “Loki Season 2 picks up after the shocking season finale when Loki finds himself in a battle for the Time Variance Authority’s soul.” In quest of Sylvie, Judge Renslayer, Miss Minutes, and the reality of what it is to have free will and a noble purpose, Loki navigates a growing and hazardous cosmos with the help of Mobius, Hunter B-15, and a group of new and returning characters.

Following a different “variant” of Thor’s evil sibling who escaped the TVA’s preset destiny following the events of Avengers: Endgame (2019), Loki is a villain. The TVA, a governmental organisation committed to maintaining a unified chronology by collecting and eradicating variations, captures this Loki in Season 1. The TVA was built by another Kang form, He Who Remains, to prevent the Multiverse from being reborn and breaking into all-out conflict. After Loki teams up with a female version of himself, Sylvie, the two learn the truth about the TVA. The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s recreation of the multiverse, He Who Remains, is killed by Sylvie when she teleports Loki back to the TVA at the conclusion of Season 1. By the Season 1 conclusion, Judge Renslayer (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) and Miss Minutes (Tara Strong) are both absent. At the conclusion of Season 1, Renslayer, a former TVA executive, departed the company “in search of free will.” Miss Minutes, on the other hand, serves as He Who Remains’ virtual confidante and is the TVA’s mascot.

Prior to now, promotional artwork and a post-credits sequence in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023) have both hinted at further information regarding Loki Season 2. A number of retro-style posters for the TVA include Mobius M. Mobius (Owen Wilson) sporting a huge spacesuit, anti-Loki propaganda, and a sign for the TVA’s “Coercive Conversation Centre.” Loki and Mobius were shown travelling across time to look into Victor Timely, another potential incarnation of Kang the Conqueror, in the aforementioned post-credits sequence. Actors Ke Huy Quan (Everything Everywhere All at Once) and Kate Dickie (Game of Thrones) are among the additions for Season 2, along with returning cast members like Wilson and Wunmi Mosaku as the TVA’s Hunter B-15.

The second season of Loki will finally air in October after being postponed from its initial mid-2023 release date. Insiders claim that the reason for the delay was Marvel Studios’ decision to polish the series’ narrative in reaction to unfavourable reviews of prior MCU films and television programmes. Given that Kang is expected to play a significant role in Loki Season 2, uncertainty about how to approach the assault charges and controversy surrounding Majors is also thought to have played a part.
