Filming for Venom 3 is apparently about to start in Cartegena, Spain. Murcia claims Today, the Los Mateos neighbourhood in Los Angeles was being prepared for the commencement of filming for the next third installment of Sony Pictures’ Venom movie series. Despite the shoot’s purported secrecy, the production has drawn notice due to the heavy gear and equipment cluttering the streets as well as the 50 or so locals recruited to serve as set security. Francisco Garca, the head of the Los Mateos community Association, stated that the film crew’s presence “gives life to the area” and that local business owners are excited about the “influx of people that this implies for the neighbourhood.” Venom 3, which will once again star Tom Hardy as the eponymous antihero, is scheduled to start filming in the last week of June. The production encouraged the local government to establish a film office in an effort to draw other productions to the area. The Cartagena City Council has officially announced that Venom 3 will also shoot at Calblanque together with Los Mateos.

Venom 3’s working title, “Orwell,” was made public in May. Some fans have interpreted this as a nod to Marvel Comics’ Orwell Taylor, a former general of the United States Army who founded the Venom-hunting supervillain team known as the “Jury.” Venom: Lethal Protector, which debuted in the early 1990s and was Venom’s first solo title, had a significant role for Orwell’s character throughout the whole miniseries. It was written by David Michelinie and illustrated by Mark Bagley. In addition to Hardy reprising his role as Venom/Eddie Brock, Venom 3 will mark Juno Temple’s debut in a crucial yet unnamed role. Chiwetel Ejiofor, well known for his work on Doctor Strange and the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Karl Mordo, has also been confirmed for a different unspecified part in Venom 3. Fans wonder if Michelle Williams and/or Stephen Graham will reprise their respective roles of Anne Weying and Detective Mulligan from the previous Venom (2018) and Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021), as they are currently the only three actors officially associated with the project.
