Taron Egerton opens up about Marvel casting: lost hope but opportunities remain.

Taron Egerton’s name has become synonymous with Marvel castings over the years, as he has been linked to various roles within the franchise. From potentially playing Wolverine in X-Men: First Class to being mentioned in discussions about characters like Cyclops, Egerton has been associated with Marvel films since 2011. However, despite the ongoing speculation, nothing has come to fruition for the talented actor.

In a recent interview with Total Film magazine, Egerton expressed his feelings of disappointment and waning interest in pursuing a Marvel role. He believes that he is now too old to be considered for a young character who could carry the torch for the next decade or more. While he acknowledges that age is a factor in casting decisions, Egerton understands that sometimes opportunities pass by, and it’s simply the nature of the industry.

Despite feeling out of the age range currently sought by Marvel, there is still hope for Egerton to join the franchise in the future. Not all Marvel characters require actors to commit to a decade-long portrayal, as exemplified by actors like Robert Downey Jr. who joined the MCU at an older age and had a highly successful run as Iron Man. With numerous older characters from the Marvel comics yet to make their live-action debut, there are still possibilities for Egerton to bring his talent and versatility to the franchise in a different capacity.
