An important Skrull ability was improved by Secret Invasion

In the 1990s-set film Captain Marvel, the Skrull race was first introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Skrulls weren’t seen once more until after Thanos’ assault, though. As a result, a lot of effort and development was required so that some characters could change away from the camera. The Skrulls have since been reintroduced in Secret Invasion as a species that is still looking for a home in the galaxy. However, instead of banding together to find a home, hundreds have broken off in the aim of rising once more, this time violently. Skrulls have turned to deceitful methods, snatching the faces and memories of individuals they abduct, because they lack the resources to carry out a full-scale invasion. This has rendered them nearly invisible to the typical person while simultaneously demonstrating a significant improvement in one of their talents. Skrulls used to only be able to steal recent memories from individuals they copied, but as of late, they have been able to steal the entirety of their lives without resistance.

The Skrulls had cutting-edge technology when Carol Danvers was captured by them. To begin with, they possessed a device that gave them access to a subject’s mind and enabled them to view memories dating all the way back to infancy. Though far more sophisticated, this was comparable to their capacity to take memories from individuals they cloned. Even Talos acknowledged that they could only steal recent memories of their host when they took their identity, most likely because to the mental strain this would create. While this made sense at the time, time has since proved that the Skrulls have become more adept at stealing memories and have using this skill to direct terror strikes while serving in Gravik’s army. Although it is currently unclear how the Skrulls improved this power, given that they removed memories from subjects after putting them in stasis machines, it may have something to do with the device. It’s also possible that Gravik and a small number of other people learned how to push themselves intellectually and then taught others how to do the same, making them the ideal moles.

The Skrulls have the ability to enter and employ superhuman power to defend themselves, as Captain Marvel demonstrated. The tactical skill they might employ and the destruction they could do, however, were never really described in the film. The first episode of Secret Invasion alone demonstrated that Skrulls were a serious menace that was never adequately controlled. Nothing could stop them from infiltrating and seizing control of the highest positions now that they had the capacity to steal the memories of a host’s whole existence. The Skrulls were comrades who turned on those who disagreed with them and progressed, unlike other foes Nick Fury had met. They are currently the most lethal force the MCU has seen since Thanos, and they have already begun to undermine the already precarious global peace. The Skrull Empire would quickly rule the globe if left unchecked, in large part because of their capacity to steal memories, which they developed through time.
