Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will be available in digital form shortly. Sony’s hugely popular animated picture is now available for pre-order on Amazon, with the digital edition anticipated to be available to all consumers on August 8. While no date has been established for the physical release, these often follow the digital release by a few weeks. Regardless, it remains to be seen whether Sony has any more plans for Across the Spider-Verse’s 4K, Blu-ray, and DVD releases. Fans may look forward to Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, which is planned to arrive in early 2024, as the next installment in the franchise. While the company has already established a release date for the third installment, many have questioned if it is a feasible goal. According to an animator who worked on Across, Beyond will be delayed owing to the significant amount of crunch necessary to bring the plot to life. “There’s no way that movie will be released then.” “There has been progress in pre-production,” the unidentified insider claimed. “However, in terms of production, the only progress made on the third one is any exploration or testing done before the movie was split into two parts.” Producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller have stated that if it is necessary to postpone Beyond the Spider-Verse, they will not hesitate to do so if it means producing the finest product possible. “We won’t back into a release date that doesn’t fit,” Miller stated. Beyond is still set to launch on March 29, 2024 at the time of writing.
