Since WandaVision, Secret Invasion has emerged as one of the most intimate Marvel Cinematic Universe tales. This is largely because Nick Fury, the protagonist, has never been more humanised. The spectator might understand why he had devolved into a shadow of his former self by seeing his strong bond with the Skrulls and how he thought he failed them after The Blip. But when it was discovered he had married a Skrull, giving him a particular stake in this fight, everything became further clearer as to why he shouldered the duty. Fury has been exceedingly private about his personal life since the first Iron Man, to the point that it was assumed he wasn’t married. However, it was now known that Fury’s wife was also a Skrull, which fully explained why he was so determined to keep up the deception and protect her at all costs. since a result, it also clarified why Fury was prepared to use his resources to send Clint Barton into hiding, since it wasn’t simply for the benefit of a buddy but also because he could relate to him.

Like Fury, there was no indication that Hawkeye had a life outside of his S.H.I.E.L.D. duty when he first appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Avengers: Age of Ultron, on the other hand, immediately revealed that Clint was not only married but also the father of two children, with a third on the way. Clint subsequently revealed that Fury had given permission for his family to be hidden on a small farm somewhere in the US, with Fury and Black Widow perhaps being the only people who knew of his unusual plan. From that point on, it was obvious that nothing would stand in the way of Clint and his family, including his responsibilities as an Avenger.

They had been in hiding for so long that no opponents had found out about them till Echo did some research for the Hawkeye series. Clint, however, was unfortunate enough to lose everyone in the devastation incident, therefore The Blip was the only item that had previously located his family. The incident not only destroyed Clint and transformed him into Ronin, but also unequivocally demonstrated how nothing he was without his family. From that vantage point, it made perfect sense why Fury would work with Clint since he’d never let his guard down if his family was in any danger.

Any governmental entity would need to invest a lot of money to conceal a family the way Clint Barton concealed his. Additionally, with three children, things get much more complicated because they would be most exposed. Even so, Fury bent Heaven and Earth to meet Clint’s demands, and Clint returned the favour with love and respect. But that wouldn’t have been feasible if Fury hadn’t previously realised how crucial family protection was. Fury understood the value of paying it forward since he and his Skrull wife, Priscilla, had experienced the same treatment. When it came to protecting a family that he had grown to love as his own, Fury would never do anything for Clint that he wouldn’t do for himself. But demonstrating how Fury went through a same trauma added more depth and helped explain why figures like Black Widow and Hawkeye felt such strong affection for him.
