The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s big release in 2024 receives further positive news ahead of its premiere. According to a recent poll, Deadpool and Wolverine are this year’s most anticipated summer blockbusters. According to Fandango’s Moviegoing Trends and Insights Study, Deadpool and Wolverine are the most anticipated films this summer. Fandango questioned almost 6,000 moviegoers, including 3,000 ticket purchasers from the famous online ticketing store and 3,000 who bought general admission tickets, all of whom had purchased at least one ticket since the beginning of the year. The Deadpool threequel outperformed Bad Boys: Ride or Die and Despicable Me 4, which finished second and third, respectively. A Quiet Place: Day One and Inside Out 2 complete the top five.
Fandango issued a statement in response to the study, stating that “as summer approaches, more than half of all moviegoers surveyed plan to see four or more movies in theaters.” Summer moviegoers are motivated by a variety of factors, including the anticipation of freshly released blockbusters and quality time with family and friends. Summer 2024 is set to bring back beloved franchises, with Deadpool 3, Bad Boys: Ride or Die, and Despicable Me 4 topping the top ten most anticipated summer movies list, catering to viewers of all ages.” Marvel also topped a similar Fandango survey last summer, with Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse entering as the most anticipated film for moviegoers. Deadpool and Wolverine topping Fandango’s newest survey comes as no surprise, given that the Phase Five MCU endeavor topped the list of the most anticipated movie releases coming this year in another poll conducted by the ticketing firm in December. Since the release of Deadpool & Wolverine’s first official trailer in February, interest in the picture has grown significantly. The teaser, which released during Super Bowl LVIII, broke all-time viewership records in just 24 hours. Deadpool & Wolverine, which stars Ryan Reynolds as the “Merc With a Mouth” and Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, is the first Deadpool film under the MCU brand. The film might bring additional X-Men characters into the MCU. Director Shawn Levy and the ensemble have also hinted at some huge Marvel appearances in the threequel, with reports circulating that Taylor Swift and Halle Berry are among them. Furthermore, Deadpool and Wolverine might introduce a new Multiverse notion into the MCU.
