By breaking $500 million in worldwide ticket sales, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse has achieved yet another big milestone at the box office. Variety reports that the animated comic book sequel has made an astonishing total of $506.3 million globally after earning $290.4 million in North America and $215.9 million abroad. It is presently in third place among domestic movies that have made the most money, falling behind The Super Mario Bros. Movie ($572 million) and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 ($345 million). With $679 million, the movie surpasses Fast X to claim the fourth-place position globally.

On June 2, Across the Spider-Verse swung into theatres with a record-breaking $120 million opening weekend gross. The much anticipated Miles Morales-led sequel held viewers’ attention despite competition from Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, Warner Bros. Discovery’s The Flash, and Pixar’s animated Elemental. The sequel reached this milestone just 12 days after its debut, surpassing the total box office receipts of its predecessor, Into the Spider-Verse ($384 million). China, which brought in $42.4 million for Across the Spider-Verse outside of North America, came in first, followed by the United Kingdom with $26 million, Mexico with $24 million, and Australia with $14 million.

Donald Glover, who plays Miles Morales’ evil uncle Aaron Davis/Prowler, recently appeared in some behind-the-scenes photographs posted by his Across the Spider-Verse co-writer Christopher Miller. In the movie, Glover had a brief appearance as Miles was being introduced to the Spider-Society. Miles encounters a hall of Spider-People and their connected enemies who are trapped in alternate realities while exploring the organization’s headquarters. One of those villains, Prowler, makes many fleeting cameos throughout the film. Along with two images of the actor on set, Miller tweeted, “This was a wonderful day we had messing about with an old buddy. Glover’s connection to the spider-man dates back to 2010, when supporters pushed for him to take on the role of Peter Parker in The Amazing Spider-Man. Miles Morales’ voice was later provided by Glover for the animated series Ultimate Spider-Man from 2015. Miles Morales is launched across the universe in the opening scene of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, which was directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Justin K. Thompson, and Kemp Powers. There, he meets a group of Spider-People entrusted with maintaining the multiverse’s existence. Miles must reevaluate his definition of heroism in order to defend his loved ones as the heroes differ on how to handle a new threat.
