Thanks to the multiverse concept of Deadpool & Wolverine, Fox Marvel characters might make a comeback. Liev Schreiber gave an explanation for why it was preferable that his Sabretooth variation remained out of the movie. Although X-Men Origins: Wolverine received negative reviews upon its 2009 premiere, Marvel fans have since grown to enjoy the movie. Some claim that if it weren’t for Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman’s first partnership, Deadpool & Wolverine would never have occurred. Reynolds has been pushing for a rematch since Deadpool 2, while Jackman had the idea for the crossover when he watched the first Deadpool movie. Nonetheless, fans had high hopes that Deadpool & Wolverine will feature more X-Men Origins: Wolverine characters. The trailers disproved the growing claims that Liev Schreiber will play Sabretooth again. In an interview, Schreiber said he was unaware of the fervent desire from his followers for him to come back. “I was so surprised that we had that many fans, and I was so surprised that people were campaigning for me to be in the new Deadpool movie,” he confirmed. Though Tyler Mane played the character in the 2000s X-Men film, Sabretooth did make an appearance in the film. His little fight with Jackman was essentially a reunion that had been planned for 24 years. In his 2023 interview with GQ, Schreiber stated that he was excited to play Sabretooth again in a Marvel movie. “I would have loved to bring Victor Creed back, anytime, anywhere,” he remarked. Then he was thinking back to why he wasn’t in Logan in 2017. “They didn’t ask me,” he scoffed. “I don’t believe he was involved in Logan’s narrative. It was not included in the story.
Though he expressed gratitude that fans desired to see him in the movie, Schreiber declined to clarify whether he was ever asked to feature in Deadpool & Wolverine. It’s incredible. The feeling you get when people remember back on something you did and are so grateful that they want you to repeat it is beyond words.” But he acknowledged that he would need to get in shape for his appearance. It takes a lot of work to get your physique to that position, to be honest. He jokingly said, “I know I watched Hugh Jackman get ready again and I thought, ‘It’s okay to sit by the sidelines.'” A 55-year-old Jackman appeared in Deadpool & Wolverine, demonstrating his physical fitness for the part. At the moment, Schreiber is 56.

Reynolds was commended by Schreiber in the past for “correcting” Deadpool’s portrayal in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. He shared the impression expressed by fans in the GQ interview that the movie’s conclusion misrepresented the comic book character. “I thought Ryan did a fantastic job with the transition to the Deadpool movies, as it seemed so different from the character in Origins in many respects. However, I’m happy that Ryan was able to fix the error.” Wade Wilson used Cable’s time travel device to “rewrite” previous errors in Deadpool 2, including “erasing” Deadpool from X-Men Origins: Wolverine, as shown in the film’s closing credits.
