Actor Josh Brolin has hinted that a major comeback for Thanos in the Marvel Cinematic Universe may be imminent. Josh Brolin is well-known for portraying the villain Thanos in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which includes the films Infinity War and Endgame. In the second season of the animated series What If…? on Disney+, Brolin recently returned to the job of voice actor for several Thanos incarnations. During a promotional interview for Dune: Part Two, Brolin was questioned on the likelihood of resurrecting Thanos in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The actor hinted that he has heard rumours that his live-action version of Thanos may return, but that’s not the same as the cartoon version. More than any other villain in the MCU, he also responded when he discovered that Thanos had been formally eliminated.

“You know, I hear kind of like through the grapevine, that they’re gonna bring him back,” remarked Brolin. “There is also the What If…? series, which features a distinct version of Thanos and related themes. I was unaware that he was the most deadliest Marvel villain, but I don’t know whether they would bring him back in the Marvel universe. Every day, you pick up new knowledge. When the figures are broken down, the amount of deaths caused by Thanos adds up. Though he officially died twice in Avengers: Endgame, he also died in the multiverse-traversing sequel film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, as well as in other variations that were killed off in the What If…? series. Given that the next Avengers films are anticipated to go deeper into the MCU’s cosmos, Brolin’s chances of playing Thanos on the big screen appear to be excellent.

According to the Jess Cagle Show, Brolin previously stated, “We’ve kind of bookended this thing after 10 years,” implying that his role as Thanos will come to a close with Avengers: Endgame. “I was overjoyed, and even though it wasn’t my original goal to be involved, I really enjoyed being a part of Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame. They adored the entire Thanos character, even if it was really a brief cameo. They had never felt that they had a villain strong enough for the work they were doing, but after, I believe, they felt like they had, and two films that were essentially centred on that were released. It was a great deal of fun and highly beneficial to them.” Josh Brolin will be seen on the big screen this year in the forthcoming sequel Dune: Part Two, yet it is unclear whether the actor will reprise his role as Thanos in the MCU. The film is scheduled to open in theatres on March 1, 2024. In addition, Brolin will star with Peter Dinklage, Brendan Fraser, Glenn Close, and Taylour Paige in the forthcoming comedy Brothers.
