An exciting Deadpool 3 release update during strike negotiations

While the WGA strike is gone, the SAG-AFTRA strike is still going on, which has put several movie productions on hold. However, there is some good news for Deadpool 3 as discussions continue. Hollywood studios are reportedly preparing to resume a number of stopped films as soon as the actors’ strike is over. Some films will be prioritised above others since there are so many projects on hold; films in the latter group are likely to experience considerable delays. The threequel will be the “top priority” for the House of Mouse once the strike is over, thus Disney has remained committed to the film’s May 3, 2024, release date. These preparations might, of course, be derailed if the strike continues for several more months, but there are signs that it may soon be over. There is increasing pressure for SAG-AFTRA and the AMPTP to eventually come to an agreement now that screenwriters have already returned to work following the WGA strike. In any event, it’s impossible to predict at this moment when the strike will finish in full.

Another positive for Deadpool 3 is that the movie was almost halfway through production when it had to stop. In a recent interview with Deadline, director Shawn Levy stated that he was awaiting a fair contract for SAG-AFTRA before the movie’s shooting could resume. Additionally, he hinted to the upcoming reunion of Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds, the stars of their respective starring roles in Marvel flicks, Wolverine and Deadpool. “We were halfway through filming Deadpool, co-starring Wolverine,” Levy stated. That chemistry is, I have to say, spoiler warning, it is as relentlessly great as we had all thought it would be. It was a delight every day. Our team and the rest of us are hoping for a fair and equitable solution that stops these strikes and brings our industry, most definitely including our movie, back to work. However, we stopped production halfway through. Together with Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, Zeb Wells, and Ryan Reynolds, Levy co-wrote the threequel’s script. Additionally, certain special cameos have been made public, with Jennifer Garner reportedly making a comeback as Elektra. There are also a slew of rumours regarding additional cameos, with a fresh one resurfacing about Taylor Swift perhaps appearing as Dazzler or another Marvel character.
