Marvel fans have been eagerly anticipating the arrival of Punisher star Jon Bernthal in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) since it was confirmed he would be returning for the upcoming Disney+ series, Daredevil: Born Again. Now, new information has surfaced regarding Bernthal’s return, adding to the already intense anticipation for the show’s release.

The highly anticipated Disney+ series, which will see Bernthal reprise his role as Frank Castle/Punisher, will bring him back together with Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio, with whom he worked on the Netflix shows. Fans are excited to see how the three characters will interact with each other, as they have a long history of battles and team-ups in the Marvel TV universe.

With filming for the new series in its early stages, there is still plenty of mystery surrounding Bernthal’s comeback, especially since the character has not been seen on screen since The Punisher finished its run in early 2019. However, fans recently received a thrilling update on Bernthal’s return.

Slink Proper, who is working as Bernthal’s trainer for the series, posted a video of the actor training for his upcoming return as Punisher on Instagram. The video also included promotional posters from the original The Punisher series on Netflix, confirming that Bernthal is preparing for his MCU role. Proper even replied to a comment on the video from March 27, confirming that Bernthal had left to go film for the role.

With Bernthal’s imminent arrival on the Daredevil set, fans are eagerly awaiting his return to the MCU. D’Onofrio, who plays Wilson Fisk/Kingpin in the MCU, has already teased Bernthal’s role in the upcoming show, calling him “a major part of the [upcoming] show.” This suggests that Bernthal’s role in the show will be much more than just a short cameo.

Bernthal’s arrival on the set of Daredevil: Born Again has fans excited to see how he will fit into the MCU’s Disney+ slate. After seeing Charlie Cox’s roles in Spider-Man: No Way Home and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, as well as Kingpin’s appearance in Hawkeye, fans are eager to see how Bernthal’s Punisher will interact with the two characters.

Even though it may be some time until fans see Bernthal on set, the support he has received from his former castmates in the Defenders Saga has fans excited for what he’ll be able to do with this return. Daredevil: Born Again is currently filming, and it’s set to premiere on Disney+ in spring 2024. Fans are eagerly awaiting Bernthal’s MCU return and can’t wait to see what kind of action and drama he’ll bring to the show.
