Possible plans for a new Punisher series on Disney+. The vigilante will star in his own programme after making a comeback in Daredevil: Born Again, according to trustworthy leaker MyTimeToShineHello on Twitter. Disney has not yet responded on the rumour, so it should be treated with caution.
The Punisher, played by Jon Bernthal, made his Netflix debut in Season 2 of Daredevil. He then played the role in his own spin-off series on the streaming platform, which aired for two seasons before being cancelled along with the other MCU Netflix projects. Fans have questioned if Castle would follow in the footsteps of other Daredevil characters, such as Charlie Cox’s portrayal of Matt Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home, She-Hulk, and Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk/The Kingpin in Hawkeye.
In March 2023, Bernthal’s comeback as the Punisher was officially announced. He joined the cast of Born Again, replacing Ayelet Zurer in the role of Vanessa Fisk, and he was joined by Cox, D’Onofrio, and Sandrine Holt. Elden Henson and Deborah Ann Woll, who formerly played Karen Page and Foggy Nelson, respectively, on Daredevil, are rumoured to not be returning. Michael Gandolfini, Margarita Levieva, Nikki M. James, Michael Gaston, Arty Froushan, and Clark Johnson in unspecified roles are among the new cast members.
Before Born Again, the tales of Daredevil and the Kingpin will be continued in Echo, a Hawkeye spin-off that stars Alaqua Cox as the deaf assassin Maya Lopez and follows her as she leaves New York City for her Oklahoma homeland and rekindles her Native American heritage. Producer Stephen Broussard talked about the series’ distinct tone and compared it to the Werewolf By Night episode for Halloween. It feels extremely grounded and spiritual in ways that are novel to us, but I don’t want to say too much because there isn’t much out there, he added. Alaqua is an extraordinarily captivating protagonist. I find it difficult to imagine what it may feel like outside of what we’ve done here, let alone inside the larger MCU. Keep an eye out for that awesome things. Nov. 29, 2023, will see the release of the series.
