An MCU executive provides a release update for Black Panther 3.

A recent release update for Black Panther 3 illustrates the film’s potential placement within the timeline of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa was replaced in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever by Letitia Wright’s Shuri. The film was a huge hit, which raised doubts about whether Black Panther 3 would ever be made. Hollywood icon Denzel Washington surprisingly revealed that he will be appearing in the project in addition to it being a part of the MCU’s film slate. A Black Panther 3 release update has now been made public. Black Panther 3 won’t be released before the next Avengers film, Marvel Studios executive Nate Moore told Variety on the red carpet of the Captain America: Brave New World premiere.

Moore claims that Marvel Studios has already held preliminary discussions with director Ryan Coogler, and that the film’s production would begin once Coogler completes his upcoming 2025 feature Sinners, a vampire drama starring Michael B. Jordan from the MCU. In any case, Marvel’s next big item, Avengers: Doomsday, takes precedence, but Moore promises, “We’ll get back to Wakanda as soon as we can.”

It is hardly surprise that Nate Moore has confirmed that Black Panther 3 would not be released prior to the next Avengers film. After all, with an unnamed MCU film scheduled for release on February 13, 2026, Marvel has just one potential release date before May 2026’s Avengers: Doomsday. Marvel would have to be prepared to roll cameras on the next Black Panther movie before the end of the first half of the year if it wanted to take that position. But due to Ryan Coogler’s hectic schedule, Black Panther 3 still needs to get underway. Therefore, Black Panther 3 will not be able to be published in time for Avengers: Doomsday. That’s cool, though, since Shuri and other Wakandan figures will probably appear in the Avengers movie, laying the groundwork for a later Black Panther movie. Black Panther 3 will probably have to wait until the next two Avengers films are finished before it can be released, since Marvel Studios only has open release dates in 2027 following Avengers: Secret Wars. It appears that Shuri will once again be the franchise’s protagonist, since Marvel Studios president Nate Moore has already denied the T’Challa Black Panther 3 speculations. Marvel will already use Black Panther in two of the franchise’s most ambitious projects since the character is probably going to be a member of the MCU’s new Avengers lineup. After the Multiverse Saga is over, I’m fine with waiting for Black Panther 3 to come out in 2027 or 2028. The wait for Black Panther 3 will be well worth it now that Denzel Washington is involved.
