Andy Serkis discusses his experience playing Knull in Venom 3 and his knowledge of Sony’s Future plans for the Marvel villain

Following his defeat in Sony’s Venom threequel, actor and director Andy Serkis talks about Knull’s potential comeback in upcoming Marvel films in Venom: The Last Dance. In addition to directing Venom: Let There Be Carnage, Serkis portrayed Knull, also known as the King in Black, Venom’s primary nemesis in Venom: The Last Dance. Venom and Knull never met, yet near the conclusion of Venom: The Last Dance, Venom’s sacrifice foils Knull’s ambitions to flee Kylntar and invade Earth. Andy Serkis says his role as Knull in Venom: The Last Dance was a “last-minute” addition to the film, and he expresses interest in playing the king of the symbiotes again in an interview with Screen Rant at FAN EXPO San Francisco 2024. Serkis says, “I don’t mind doing that!” in response to the question of whether Knull will face Spider-Man again in a future Marvel installment. Charlie Cox from Daredevil, Grant Gustin from The Flash, and other superheroes are among the guest celebs at FAN EXPO San Francisco, which has Screen Rant as its media partner. Below are Andy Serkis’ complete remarks about Knull’s potential comeback:

Well, that’s also very interesting. I really, genuinely have no idea. It was very much, “Can you come in?” It was quite last minute, actually. “Can you come in and do the voice for Knull?” So, I came in and did it on the stage. Then there was talk of, “This could go on… He’s quite a big character,” and I was like, “Yeah, I know that.” Well, let’s see what happens, actually.

Eddie Brock and Venom, played by Tom Hardy, go through a cycle in Venom: The Last Dance, when they must split apart to defend Earth from Knull’s onslaught. But it’s likely that a symbiote will appear in a film based in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe again after Venom’s sacrifice. The mid-credits and post-credits sequences in Venom: The Last Dance imply that Knull’s menace has not been eliminated. A symbiote escapes Area 51’s wreckage by connecting to a cockroach in the post-credits sequence, and Knull teases a return in the mid-credits of Venom: The Last Dance. The King in Black narrative, which revolves around Knull’s invasion of Earth and the efforts of all Marvel heroes to resist him, is his most significant story in Marvel mythology. Knull Venom is comparable to Thanos, a universe-threatening supervillain that takes dozens of strong heroes to vanquish, in the King in Black plotline from Marvel Comics. Therefore, Knull may be the perfect antagonist to support a multiversal crossover between the Spider-Man from the MCU and the new characters from the Spider-Man Universe from Sony.
