Fans of Ironheart have had a busy week of news, and we are excited to share some casting news for the Dominique Thorne-directed show. Anji White and Matthew James Elam have joined Ironheart as season regulars, 9to5marvel can confirm. Anji White also seems to be portraying someone who is very close to Riri, maybe her mother Ronnie!
Anji White as Matthew and Ronnie James Elam plays a secret part. The resumes come from Breakdown Express, a website that hosts resumes for actors and other people working in the entertainment industry. The website is used by teams of actors to apply to castings.
It’s interesting to note that Anji White, like fellow Ironheart actress Harper Anthony, is from Chicago. She is an experienced stage and movie actor who has won accolades for her performances in plays like For Coloured Girls and Sunset Baby. According to reviews, she is a “powerhouse actress.” Additionally, White has been in well-known programmes as Fargo, in which she played Dibrell Smutny, Chicago Med, 4400, and The Chi.
Los Angeles native Matthew James Elam is a talented actor and theatre performer. There is a relation to Anji White, an actress. In Fargo’s fourth season, both actors became series regulars. Playing Lemuel Cannon was Elam. The Many Saints of Newark, a recent Sopranos prequel, included the actor as well.
Ronnie Williams is Riri’s mother in the comics. She first showed up in issue 12 of Invincible Iron Man (2015). Having lost two marriages, Ronnie first has doubts about Riri becoming a superhero. She eventually gains confidence in her daughter and is a tremendous supporter. The first time we see Ronnie Williams in the comics, there is conflict between a mother and her daughter. Riri has returned to Chicago after leaving MIT because it was “not a good fit.” Naturally, Riri’s mother is seeking an explanation as to why her “genius” daughter shouldn’t attend the renowned institution.
