The version of Kang audiences will see in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is described as a warrior variant of the menacing Marvel villain.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania features a Kang version that’s a warrior variant of the menacing central villain. Previously appearing in the spinoff series Loki, actor Jonathan Majors was introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe during the show’s finale. Though not explicitly stated, it is heavily implied that Majors’ character in the finale is a variant of Kang The Conquerer and that his warning of a great threat to the multiverse surfacing will soon come to fruition on-screen.
With Thanos defeated by The Avengers in Avengers: Endgame, it is yet to be seen who will be the MCUs next recurring central threat, though comic readers and MCU enthusiasts are already assuming it will be Kang in one form or another. Despite Phase Four MCU entries like Doctor Strange In the Multiverse of Madness expanding the world and lore of the MCU ever further, it is currently still lacking that singular big bad behind the scenes that brought everything to an explosive close in the franchise’s previous phases. With Kang comes one of Marvel’s most fearsome threats from the comics and perhaps that singular entity that will force all the core heroes back into combined action once again
