Anthony Mackie refutes the Captain America theory for Avengers 5

Anthony Mackie, who plays Captain America, disproved a well-liked fan idea regarding the function of his character in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty in a recent interview. The fifth Avengers film, which is still more than two years away, is eagerly anticipated, and there has been considerable discussion and speculating about it. Even current MCU performers are participating in the rumours, as shown when Jonathan Majors stated that he would want to see Robert Downey Jr. in the 2025 movie.

Anthony Mackie addressed the popular fan theory that Sam Wilson (Captain America) will be the Avengers’ top commander in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, which will be released in 2025, in the most recent issue of Empire Magazine. Wilson has served as the Avengers’ top commander in some recent comic runs. Sam’s absence of abilities, according to Mackie, “could present a difficulty when you go face somebody like Thanos:”

Interviewer: “The Avengers will require a leader when they reappear. Do you believe Sam Wilson might be that person?”

Mackie: “Sam is the only person in the cast who lacks superpowers. He’s just an ordinary guy hanging out with some oddballs. I’ve been in a few fights because I’m from New Orleans. In a fight, my heart and charisma never came in handy. I usually just get beat up for that. Therefore, when you go fight someone like Thanos, that might be a problem.”

Sam is “a ordinary person who just happened to become an Avenger,” Mackie highlighted in a previous interview, adding that he “loves the concept of him navigating through life as Captain America:”

“Just keep in mind that he is a counsellor and a regular guy who just so happens to be an Avenger. There are no superhuman abilities, supersuits, or super serum. He is only a guy. I adore the concept of him living his life as Captain America, as someone who brings harmony and change rather than havoc and violence.”

Nate Moore, an MCU producer, concurred, stating that “he’s a guy with wings and a shield, but he is a guy:”

“He’s not Steve Rogers, in my opinion, and I think that’s good. Because this new Cap reminds me of Rocky. In every circumstance, he will be the underdog. Not a super soldier, he. He is not a century old. The Avengers are not with him. What happens to this guy who publicly declares, “I’m new Captain America,” kind of without the support. is fascinating to me because he is a man. He may have wings and a shield, but he is still a man.”

If Sam is unable to stand up and lead the Avengers, another hero will need to do so. Fortunately, the MCU has a wide range of alternatives to choose from. Sam Wilson will be among the new Avengers that Captain Marvel will be heading in May’s comics. Perhaps Captain Marvel will take on that position in Avengers 5 in yet another instance of MCU and Marvel Comics symbiosis. The Scarlet Witch or Doctor Strange, who are undoubtedly the most knowledgeable about how the Multiverse functions after Doctor Strange in The Multiverse of Madness, might also assume the position given the Multiverse theme. Alternatively, because they have been on the team the longest and are still active, Thor, Hulk, or Hawkeye will assume leadership just by virtue of seniority.

When Avengers: The Kang Dynasty premieres in cinemas on May 2, 2025, fans will have a tonne to appreciate regardless of who ends up ruling the Avengers going forward.
