After releasing the first eight minutes of Kraven: The Hunter earlier this week, Sony unveiled new video at the 2024 Comic Con Experience. Aaron Taylor-Johnson plays the titular character in Kraven: The Hunter, which was directed by J. C. Chandor. Fred Hechinger, Russell Crowe, and Ariana DeBose play supporting parts. The release date is set on December 13, 2024. The Sony panel at CCXP 2024 opened with a video of Taylor-Johnson explaining the movie’s opening sequences. Although this part of the movie, which shows Kraven escaping from jail, was previously available to the public, Chandor added a few additional sequences from Kraven: The Hunter after it was finished.
First, Kraven is shown stopping a pack of six hunters on private land and eliminating the most of them. After a goon informed his employer that Kraven wouldn’t be an issue, the screen changed to show Kraven seated in his boss’s chair. Kraven shoots the goon after declaring he will cross names off of the boss’s ledger. The next clip shows Nikolai Kravinoff, played by Russell Crowe, watching Hechinger’s character, Dmitri Smerdyakov/Chameleon, play “Sign of the Times” by Harry Styles. After Dmitri dedicates the following song to Nikolai, there is a shooting. Nikolai then calls Dmitri a coward for only protecting himself. Then, Dmitri is spotted in a dark vehicle that Kraven is following. Kraven fights his way aboard a chopper after Dmitri is knocked unconscious in the altercation and transported to it. In a another video, Nikolai and Kraven are shown talking about Dmitri’s alleged abduction. Nikolai claims that paying to bring him back would be weak. After a brief argument between the father and son, Nikolai acknowledges that he wants Dmitri back—that is, “both of his sons back.” In the last scene, Kraven fights as a number of traps are set off, demonstrating his ability.
All things considered, these sequences depict Kraven as an exciting journey. Apart from really having Kraven as a Spider-Man foe, this is an appropriate method to translate him to the big screen. The next in a series of Sony Marvel adaptations that include Spider-Man-like characters but not the hero himself is Kraven: The Hunter. Sadly, Tom Hardy’s Venom trilogy, which ended poorly this year, was the one little triumph for this brand. Madame Web and Morbius were among the other entrants that did not do well both critically and economically. Kraven: The Hunter could be the franchise’s final movie for some time to come, given there are currently no confirmed live-action projects in the works. An intriguing image of Kraven: The Hunter is presented in the CCXP footage. Fans could relate to Taylor-Johnson’s harsh and animalistic portrayal of Kraven. On the other hand, Sony could have made another mistake by making a legendary Spider-Man villain into an anti-hero. It might just recover its $110–$150 million budget if the remainder of the film comes up to the action scenes, assuming the word-of-mouth is favorable.
