Actor Ben Affleck might make a brief appearance in Deadpool 3. The actor who has portrayed Daredevil and Batman was reportedly sighted on the movie’s London set, according to industry insider KC Walsh (via CinemaBlend). Affleck’s involvement in the film is uncertain, however Deadpool 3 is rumoured to include appearances from Marvel characters like the X-Men and the Fantastic Four who have appeared in other 20th Century Fox films. Affleck debuted in Fox’s Daredevil (2003) as the Man Without Fear and appeared briefly as the protagonist in Elektra (2005), the sequel to Daredevil. This has given rise to rumours that Affleck may return to Deadpool 3 as Matt Murdock/Daredevil.
Deadpool 3’s plot has been kept a secret, however it is known that Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool/Wade Wilson will be integrated into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and actor Owen Wilson will return to play Loki as TVA agent Mobius M. Mobius. As a result, many are theorising that Deadpool may traverse time and universes during his future trip. The Merc with the Mouth encountering other heroes has been built up by Deadpool co-creator Rob Liefeld, who said in June, “The things I know, it will melt your face, alright? It’ll melt your face, is all I have to say. Hugh Jackman’s return as Wolverine in Deadpool 3—a character he previously performed in many X-Men movies since the first was released in 2000—is now the film’s greatest addition. When discussing Jackman in April, Reynolds said, “What we pitched him was enough of a divergence from the character that he knows and the character that he’s left behind, that it gives him something completely new to play and something that he’s really excited to do.” This confirmed that this will be a different take on the clawed mutant. Jackman has also told fans that Wolverine’s dramatic death in Logan (2017), which was supposed to be his final appearance as the hero, won’t be undone in Deadpool 3.
Reynolds and Jackman aren’t the only returning actors from the previous films; Morena Baccarin as Vanessa, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Karan Soni as Dopinder, Briana Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Shioli Kutsuna as Yukio, Stefan Kapi’i as Colossus, and Rob Delaney as Pete are all returning. Emma Corrin from The Crown will portray an unnamed villain in the movie, while Matthew Macfadyen from Succession has been hired in an additional unnamed part. In addition to himself, Reynolds, Zeb Wells, and former Deadpool writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick contributed to the script, which Shawn Levy will direct.
