Bob Odenkirk finally speaks out on potential Marvel castings

Spread MCU News

Bob Odenkirk, the actor famous for his role in “Breaking Bad” and “Better Call Saul,” recently spoke out about rumors surrounding his potential casting in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Specifically, Odenkirk addressed rumors that he would be joining the cast of Disney+’s upcoming Wonder Man series, which is currently filming in Los Angeles.

While actors such as Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Sir Ben Kingsley have been confirmed to appear in the series, Odenkirk’s potential involvement has been the subject of much speculation. According to reports, he is being considered for the role of an agent for Simon Williams, aka Wonder Man, played by Abdul-Mateen.

Despite these rumors, Odenkirk stated in an interview with The Independent that he does not believe he is “built for that world” of the MCU. He explained that he prefers to take on roles that are more grounded, relatable, and smaller in scale. “I’m built for characters that make you feel like that guy could live next door,” he said.

While there has been no official confirmation of Odenkirk’s involvement in the Wonder Man series, it’s possible that Marvel Studios is still considering him or someone like him for the role. However, given Odenkirk’s comments, it seems unlikely that he would accept the part.

It’s not uncommon for actors to give non-answers or misleading statements about their involvement in projects, especially when it comes to the highly secretive world of the MCU. However, Odenkirk’s comments appear to be genuine and indicate that he is not interested in taking on a role in a super-powered franchise.

Of course, there is always the possibility that Odenkirk could change his mind and end up appearing in Wonder Man after all. As the saying goes, “never say never” in Hollywood. Still, it seems that for now, Marvel fans will have to wait and see who ultimately takes on the role of Simon Williams’ agent in the upcoming series.

Overall, Odenkirk’s comments on the MCU offer an interesting perspective on the kind of roles actors are drawn to and the types of projects they feel are a good fit for them. While some performers may be eager to jump into the superhero genre, others may prefer to stick to more grounded roles that allow them to explore the depths of the human experience. Ultimately, it’s up to each actor to decide what kinds of roles they want to pursue, and it seems that for Bob Odenkirk, the MCU may not be the right fit at this time.
