One factor that may have contributed to these lower projections is the recent lackluster performance of MCU movies. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania received negative reviews from fans and critics alike, and had a disappointing box office earnings of $622.6 million. The lukewarm reception to this movie may have created some hesitation among fans for future MCU releases.
Another key factor that could influence the performance of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is critical reception. Fans have been eagerly waiting for the return of James Gunn to the franchise, and this movie marks his final installment with the current iteration of the team. Despite these numbers, Fury of the Gods has brought in $56 million domestically and $123 million worldwide since its release on March 17.
