Brie Larson, actress of The Marvels, has hinted that the future Marvel Cinematic Universe entry will be humorous. The star, who plays Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel in the sequel film, indicated in an interview that she hopes fans love The Marvels’ sillier moments. “It doesn’t have to be intense and heavy,” Larson remarked of the new picture. “There’s a lot of levity. “I think this film is very funny, and we had a lot of fun making it.” Between shoots, Larson would interact with her co-stars Teyonah Parris (Monica Rambeau) and Iman Vellani (Ms. Marvel) over hands of Uno, according to the interview. Every day on set, the Carol Danvers actress would bake and serve pizza to members of the crew.

Larson first appears as Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel in Captain Marvel (2019), a film set in the 1990s that was released during Phase 3 of the MCU. She reprised her role as the fan-favorite superhero in Avengers: Endgame (2019), Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021), and the last episode of Ms. Marvel (2022), with The Marvels marking her fifth appearance as the character. While The Marvels was previously touted as a Captain Marvel sequel, it was subsequently revealed to be an ensemble picture that will also continue stories introduced in the Disney+ series WandaVision, Ms. Marvel, and Secret Invasion. Samuel L. Jackson, who reprises his role as Nick Fury in The Marvels, recently stated that Secret Invasion, which is now airing new episodes weekly on Disney+, must “happen so that The Marvels can happen.” All of these things are related in an intriguing way.”
