Excitement is brewing among Marvel fans as set photos of Danny Ramirez as the new Falcon replacement in the upcoming Captain America 4 film have been released. Ramirez made his Marvel debut as Air Force liaison Joaquin Torres in Disney+’s The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, and the end of the series saw Sam Wilson pass on his old suit to Torres, officially confirming that Ramirez would be taking over the role of Falcon from Anthony Mackie.
The set photos, taken during the filming of Captain America: New World Order, show Ramirez outside the Majestic Diner in Atlanta, a location also used in Disney+’s Hawkeye. Though it’s difficult to tell the exact premise of the scene, Ramirez has a serious expression and urgent body language, suggesting that there may be some action-packed scenes to come during his tenure as Falcon.
Ramirez is just one of several new heroes being introduced into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Sam Wilson, who previously held the mantle of Falcon, is taking on a new identity as Captain America. Shuri is taking on the legacy of the Black Panther following the tragic loss of her brother T’Challa and the passing of actor Chadwick Boseman. Yelena Belova, played by Florence Pugh, is taking on the mantle of her adoptive sister, Natasha Romanoff, in Thunderbolts.
It seems that Marvel is introducing a new generation of heroes, while still keeping some familiar faces around. Characters like Scott Lang, Clint Barton, and Carol Danvers have all been given proteges that are well-suited to take on their responsibilities should the need arise.
It will be interesting to see how Danny Ramirez’s Falcon fits into this new generation of heroes. Will he be able to fill the shoes of Anthony Mackie’s Falcon, who has become a fan-favorite over the years? Only time will tell, but fans are eagerly anticipating the release of Captain America: New World Order on May 3, 2024.
