Marvel Studios’ Captain America: Brave New World has hired Matthew Orton to pen additional scenes and material for the movie’s theatrical release on February 14, 2025. Orton, who previously worked as a consulting producer for Marvel Studios’ Disney+ series Moon Knight, will be working on material that will be shot in additional photography in the spring-summer of 2024. This is a common practice in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as reshoots are a part of the studio’s quality control production process.
Captain America: Brave New World follows the story of Sam Wilson, played by Anthony Mackie, who picks up Captain America’s shield after Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers. Directed by Julius Onah, the movie is based on earlier drafts by Dalan Musson and Malcolm Spellman. The star cast includes Liv Tyler, Harrison Ford, Shira Haas, Tim Blake Nelson, Rosa Salazar, Danny Ramirez, and Carl Lumbly. Mackie’s character was introduced in Captain America: Winter Soldier and has since appeared in several Marvel movies and TV series, including the hit Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, which was nominated for five Primetime Emmys.
The Captain America franchise has been a major success for Marvel Studios, with the first three movies amassing more than $2.23 billion at the global box office. With Brave New World, the studio is looking to continue the franchise’s success and introduce new characters and storylines. The addition of Matthew Orton to pen additional scenes and material for the movie is a step towards achieving this goal. Fans can expect to see more action, drama, and excitement from the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the coming years, as the studio continues to expand its universe and push the boundaries of superhero storytelling.
