In this amazing fan art from the 1990s Avengers, Brad Pitt as Captain America. There have been two primary iterations of the star-spangled hero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Chris Evans played Steve Rogers in three Captain America films and made at least one appearance every year between 2011 and 2019. Steve gave his shield to Sam Wilson, played by Anthony Mackie, who will take the lead in Captain America: Brave New World, after Avengers: Endgame. Fan art now shows what might have appeared if Pitt had assumed the role of Captain America several years ahead of Evans. @houseofmat conjured up Pitt’s Steve Rogers appearance on Instagram if the actor had been chosen to play Captain America back in the 1990s.

Pitt looks fantastic as Steve Rogers, with his blonde hair and a version of the iconic Captain America uniform influenced by the 1990s instead of the World War II-era outfit Evans wore in Captain America: The First Avenger. Pitt hasn’t portrayed a prominent Marvel character—he just had a brief appearance as Vanisher in Deadpool 2—but maybe he’ll play a more significant part in a next Marvel film, maybe even as Captain America.
