In Marvel’s new planned series Symbiote Spider-Man 2099, set to premiere in March 2024, legendary co-creator of Spider-Man 2099 Peter David makes a comeback to the character. Marvel has revealed that Miguel O’Hara, a fan favourite, will play David’s Symbiote Spider-Man in 2099. The five-issue series, which takes place in the world of Marvel 2099 and returns to Miguel as the host of a horrifying new symbiote, will be illustrated by Rogê Antônio (Carnage). The cover art for Symbiote Spider-Man 2099 was drawn by Leinil Francis Yu, and the variant covers for the first issue were created by Ken Lashley and Greg Land.
The description of Marvel’s Symbiote Spider-Man 2099 series says, “Time travel to the techno-dystopian future of 2099! Spider-Man 2099, Miguel O’Hara, is having an adversarial takeover of his own body! The only thing that can stop Kron Stone, the Venom of 2099, from attacking Alchemax completely is the power that was awakened by a top-secret project gone horribly wrong. What has to give up for Miguel to bind himself to his new symbiote—his body? His thoughts? His own spirit itself? In his co-creator’s five-issue series, Miguel O’Hara’s Spider-Man 2099, recently off his breakthrough performance in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, takes centre stage. The eagerly anticipated next great chapter in the Symbiote Spider-Man narrative, David’s Symbiote Spider-Man 2099, helped launch Marvel Comics’ wave of throwback series that revisited iconic runs and series. Marvel’s Edge of Spider-Verse series will have a returning character as well as a brand-new Web-Slinger. Arriving in March 2024, Edge of Spider-Verse will introduce the horrific new villain Spooky-Man and resurrect Cyborg Spider-Man, a beloved ’90s Spider-Man variant.
“Kaare Andrews and artist Bob Quinn (Way of X) welcome you to Spider-High, the most dangerous high school on Earth!” says the description of Marvel’s Edge of Spider-Verse. With the evil teachers genuinely attempting to kill him, Gluemy Miller, the new student, doesn’t have a pleasant start to his first year. Positively, he could have a chance with the adorable cheerleader, but who is the lethal and enigmatic Spooky-Man? Then, Cyborg Spider-Man returns thanks to writer Rich Douek (Wastelanders: Star-Lord) and artist Edgar Salazar (Wolverine: Madripoor Knights)! Too long has passed without making use of the most awesome Spider-Suit from the 1990s! Don’t miss the star turn of the most awesome Spider-Character.”
