Kathryn Hahn has unveiled an intriguing new tease for the impending WandaVision spinoff on Disney+, which will focus on Agatha Harkness.
Agatha: Coven of Chaos, scheduled to debut in the Winter of 2023–2024, recasts the Emmy–nominated Hahn as the titular sorceress. She will be joined by returning actors Joe Locke (Heartstopper), Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Recreation), Ali Ahn (Raising Dion), Maria Dizzia (Orange Is the New Black), Sasheer Zamata (Home Economics), and Patti Lupone, as well.
Lupone, a Tony Award and Grammy winner, was recently rumoured to have been cast, which sparked rumours that Agatha would have musical elements. (After all, an Emmy-winning song called “Agatha All Along” was used in the WandaVision episode that showed nosy neighbour “Agnes” to be a formidable witch.)
Hahn was interviewed by TVLine on Saturday afternoon at the Television Critics Association winter press tour after she participated in a panel discussion for the forthcoming Tiny Beautiful Things on Hulu. We questioned Hahn about what most excites her about reprising the witchy role for Agatha: Coven of Chaos, which is set to begin production this Tuesday in Atlanta.
“Um, her costumes and her nails. They’re fabulous,” Hahn enthused. “And who knows, there may be a little song here or there… but no one is saying anything about that — certainly not me!”
