Deborah Ann Woll, the star of Daredevil, recently talked about not being welcomed back for the forthcoming Daredevil: Born Again Disney+ revival. In an interview, Woll spoke about her time as Karen Page on Netflix’s Daredevil and whether or not she believed that the possibility of retaliation in the Marvel Cinematic Universe was completely closed. “You know, one of the best parts I’ve had in my career thus far was voicing Karen Page. I cherish and admire her so much, as well as myself and the tale we wrote together,” she said. “I hope that any version of Karen that returns—whether it’s me, whether it’s not me, whether it’s in comic books, whether it’s in 50 years—continues to honour her. that you never play the supporting role.” In addition, Woll discussed what it means to portray a role other than that of the protagonist or a superhero, saying, “You may not be aware of the Karen Page tale, but she is the star of a TV series that was never produced.Make sure we just keep honouring the fact that our characters have complete lives—those who aren’t superheroes or the main fighter in any other sense. That’s what I truly enjoyed about my time as Karen Page, and I would hope that people would treat her with the same respect if I were to play her again or in the future.”She said in closing that she missed portraying “such a cool, cool person” like Karen Page and that she was “so proud” of her time spent in the Netflix/Marvel franchise.
Not just Karen Page played by Woll on Netflix’s Daredevil will miss Born Again. In the forthcoming Disney+ revival, Elden Henson is likewise not slated to reprise his role as Foggy Nelson. Both actors have significant guest parts in a number of Netflix’s other Marvel programmes in addition to the original Daredevil. Woll specifically made appearances in five episodes of The Punisher opposite Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle. As of right now, Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil, Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin, and Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/The Punisher are the only Daredevil actors who will be appearing in Born Again. Born Again will see the return of Vanessa, Kingpin’s spouse, but portrayed by a fresh performer. Ayelet Zurer has been replaced in the role by Sandrine Holt, who has had appearances on Better Call Saul, The Expanse, and House of Cards. Despite the fact that Daredevil: Born Again started filming in March 2023, the highly anticipated series’ production has been put on hold as a result of a creative rewrite. Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel Studios, secretly dismissed head writers Chris Ord and Matt Corman, as well as the directors attached to the remaining unfilmed episodes, since he was not content with what had previously been shot. Then, in October 2023, Dario Scardapane (The Punisher) was brought on as showrunner for Born Again, with the remaining episodes to be directed by the team of filmmakers Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead (Loki, Moon Knight). It is said that the new Born Again would have a more similar tone to the Netflix series.
