Director Jon Watts has recently acknowledged that many fans’ suspicions that Spider-Man: No Way Home was intended to be the genuine origin narrative for Tom Holland’s Peter Parker were accurate. The director noted that although Homecoming and Far From Home functioned as amusing chapters in the life of Spider-Man from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the threequel is actually when he becomes the eponymous hero. He cited an entry in Spider-Man: No Way Home – The Art of the Movie. “When we were filming Homecoming, the conversations were always about how we could use Peter Parker to do something unique.” stated Watts. That takes you down a few different avenues and encourages you to do things like reveal his identity to his closest friend, aunt, and, at the conclusion of the last film, the entire globe.

Watts finished by adding that No Way Home essentially served as the conclusion of the beginning and that all three films finally came together to function as a collective origin tale. In the end, it was fantastic to be able to have everything come together into Spider-Man’s straightforward narrative. According to Watts, “We just really just took our time telling the first issue of ‘Spider-Man’ — that genesis narrative. Peter Parker is pushed into a life of anonymity without any support systems in the third solo Spider-Man movie set in the MCU, and the movie ends with the world forgetting about him. It is uncertain how any prospective next films will handle this.

One of Marvel Studios’ highest grossing films to date, Spider-Man: No Way Home brought in about $1.9 billion at the box office. The popularity of the film was partly attributed to the appearance of various actors and characters that had previously appeared in Spider-Man stories as Peter Parker and Doctor Strange unintentionally split the cosmos. Beyond antagonists like the Green Goblin played by Willem Dafoe and Electro played by Jaime Foxx, the narrative also claims that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield wore their costumes once more, which contributed to the popularity of the movie. Regarding the possibility of a fourth MCU Spider-Man film, speculation is still rife as to whether Tom Holland would reprise his role as Peter Parker. Before the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes that eventually brought an end to Hollywood, the actor himself said that he was in active conversations to reprise the role. The character’s future in films has not yet been made clear by Sony and Marvel Studios.
